We are home

Hello everyone!
We have been home for about a week now. We are working to get newsletter updates out to all of you who supported us both financially and most importantly through prayer. We will get a more detailed update posted on here as soon as we can. Life has been hectic (to say the least) since we got home, as we have been playing catch up for the five weeks spent away.
We simply wanted to say thank you. Thank you again to each and every one of you who prayed for our journey through the preparation and finally the actual trip.
All our love,
Joe and Kate

A Thank You and Update on Life

Hello all!

We have had a crazy busy semester! School has only proceeded to get harder as our semesters go on. Kate has been knee-deep in projects from day 1 and is finally wrapping them up as finals week approaches. Joe has had more presentations this semester than he would have ever hoped for! We had to break down and buy him a suit mid semester so he would be properly dressed for all these presentations!

We wanted to thank each and every one of you for you love, prayers, and support through this semester and planning of our trip. We are excited about getting to go minister to the Austrian people and are even counting down the days until our departure. We want you all to know that we appreciate everything you've done and will be sending personal messages to each of you when the semester is over.

We love you all and can't wait until we can be together again!

In Him,
Joe & Kate Boice

Happy Easter and a Quick Update...

Hello everyone!
He is risen!!! Happy Easter to all of you!
We just wanted to take a minute to share an quick update with all of you on our trip planning so far.
We were extremely blessed by your generosity and were able to book our airline tickets not quite on time, but around the deadline we had been given. We had a couple of hiccups in booking our tickets and unfortunately will not be traveling with the rest of the group on the way back to OKC. This has nothing to do with the time of our booking as we were booking our tickets at a meeting all at the same time. Apparently in the middle of our booking, the systems decided to update and our booking didn't go through right away. When it finally was processed, the return flights with our group had been filled. This isn't a big deal though, as we will be traveling within an hour of our companions. We just have different layovers.
We were also very excited yesterday because Kate's passport arrived in the mail. She had already possessed a passport, but since we got married she had to change her name. We sent in her previous passport a couple of weeks ago and were impressed that the new one arrived so quickly.
We are counting down the days to the beginning of this trip. We are appreciative of your great generosity and prayers for our efforts!
We ask that you please continue to pray for the safety of our group in our travels and that we can bless those around us the way we have been blessed by so many of you.
In Him,
Joe and Kate

About the duplicates...

Hello again everyone...
We realized after mailing the letters that we accidentally printed a set of 10 envelopes twice. What this means is the 10 of you received two identical copies of our letter. We do apologize for this! We are not by any means nagging or pressuring you into supporting us :-) this was an honest mistake.
Please continue the prayers...we are beginning the semester at school on Tuesday and will be needing all the support through this time as possible.
Thank you all!

Letter to Family & Friends

Dear Family and Friends:

We want to share with you a challenging ministry opportunity that God has presented to us. From May 31 – July 2, 2010, God has offered us the chance to go to Vienna, Austria, with a group from the Memorial Road Church of Christ in Edmond, Oklahoma, along with the Interior Design Department of Oklahoma Christian University. This month-long missions trip will be spent reaching out and spreading the gospel to the Austrian people while redesigning and rebuilding a youth shelter.

While God has opened up a door for us to develop a greater heart of compassion for His people around the world, the exciting part is that you will be able to share in this compassion in a couple of ways.

First, you can pray for us and our fellow students and sponsors. We will need prayers that God will prepare us for our visit and bless our efforts as we minister to the people of Vienna. We will need prayers that God will open the hearts of the Austrian people to be receptive to His word. We will also need prayers that our financial needs will be met. At this time we need to raise $5,000 for the two of us, and that is quite a challenge!

Another way you can be involved is to help provide that financial support. We ask that you would please prayerfully consider supporting us with a small donation. We will need to raise half of our funds by January 25th in order to pay for airline tickets. The remaining amount will be needed in March to purchase ID cards, Eurail passes, and to pay for housing accommodations. Whether you feel led to contribute financially, through prayer, or both, all of your support is appreciated.

If you find that you are able to contribute financially, Davis Park Church of Christ in Modesto has graciously offered to be our support partners. Checks may be written to Davis Park Church of Christ with the notation “Vienna”. Davis Park leadership will forward support checks to us. For your tax purposes, please do not put our names on your check.

Checks may be mailed to:

Davis Park Church of Christ Attn: Vienna

901 W. Rumble Rd.

Modesto, CA 95350

We look forward to doing God's work in Vienna and will be happy to let you know all about how God has worked through this team when we return to California at the end of 2010.

God Bless,

Joe and Kate (Wincentsen) Boice
