This one was created using omni light with noise. I changed the color to make it a bit more gloomy and added a wavy noise parameter. I think it looks like either a dense fog or water. More like water if you only look at the floor.

This is supposed to look like flames. The tutorial took us through the parallel and square parallel light types and showed us how to create noise. This one uses a parallel spot with more of an orange color and noise. I think this one looks like a blowtorch on the world. I was kind of disappointed and need more practice with the contrast. His light on the tutorial had a very intense center spot and then faded out. Mine kind of looked like this through the whole thing. I'm thinking I just missed a setting that he didn't emphasize.

This is using a basic light with the setting it has when you select to put it into the model. I just moved it out a bit so we could see some shadows and reflection in the glass object.
