BEHIND THE DESIGNS

Kate Boice grew up Kate Wincentsen in Modesto, California.

From an early age Kate was a dancer. She began dancing competitively at the age of 12. At that point Kate began traveling across the United States for conventions and competitions, even performing as part of Disney's Magic Music days at the Disneyland Resort in California. Her love of dance provided her excellent opportunities to become a working woman. At the age of 13 she began assistant teaching for dance classes for students ranging from 3 years old to high school age. Shortly after that, Kate began teaching her own classes and the year before college she was named co-director for the ballet program at her home studio.

Kate has always been motivated to become the best, most hard working person she can be. Graduating from High School a full year early provided Kate time to decide exactly what she wanted to do with her life. She found herself at a crossroads with a need to choose to pursue dance as a profession, or to attend University and get a degree. She chose the latter and began searching for an appropriate school.

In her search, Kate had very precise criteria. She wanted a Christian school that had a program for one of her other passions, Interior design. As such schools are limited in number, so were her choices. She elected to attend Oklahoma Christian University in Oklahoma City in the Fall of 2007.

While attending school, Kate and her long time boyfriend were given the opportunity to travel to Europe as part of the Summer European studies program. They spent 8 weeks in the Summer of 2008 traveling in Europe, namely Italy, Germany, Austria, England, the Czech Republic, and France. While in France, Kate's boyfriend proposed and the two were married the following year.

Throughout her entire college career, Kate was extremely involved in the ASID campus student chapter. In her Junior year Kate was elected the to the office of Vice President, followed by President in her senior year. She also played a role in preparations for the School's CIDA accreditation visit both assisting in gallery setup and tear down, and giving the campus tour. She also presented one of her Commercial Design II projects in a private visit with the accreditors.

Upon graduation in 2011 Kate and her husband moved back to California in order to be close to family.

Kate is currently searching for an outstanding Interior Design or Architecture firm in the San Francisco Bay Area at which to begin a professional career in Interior Design while also pursuing both LEED AP and NCIDQ certification.
